Veneers in Hudson, FL

Veneers are a cosmetic procedure that Mai Dentistry provides to patients. If you are looking to change imperfections or simply the way your teeth appear, these might be the right choice for you. Veneers can restore confidence in a patient and change their entire smile!

What Are Veneers?

These can be used to change the shape, color, size, or small gaps between teeth. They can mask imperfections like discolored teeth, chipped teeth, or slight misalignments.

However, if a tooth has suffered too much decay, then this procedure might not be sufficient to mask its imperfections or protect the damaged tooth. In cases like these, a dental crown might be recommended instead. If a patient has a gap between teeth that is too large to be covered by veneers, we might recommend an alternative treatment such as Invisalign.

Age can also be a factor in deciding whether this procedure is right for a patient. Veneers are bonded to the front of the teeth and can last for many years if cared for properly. If a patient is too young and their teeth have not fully developed, this procedure would not be a proper solution for them.

What Is the Procedure?

Getting custom veneers is a process that involves a few appointments and happens in several stages here at Mai Dentistry:

Dental Exam

During the patient’s consultation, it is determined whether the patient is a candidate for veneers. Not everyone is a suitable candidate for this procedure. If that is the case, alternative treatment options will be discussed to help you achieve your smile goals. If veneers are the right option, we may be able to take molds of your existing teeth to have our off-site lab fabricate what is called a wax up or model of what the veneers would look like.

Preparation

Once the wax up model is returned from the lab, it will be shown to the patient to get approval of how the veneers will appear once the case is complete. If patient approves, we can start to prepare the teeth by taking off a small layer of tooth structure from each tooth that a veneer will be fitted to. The removal of existing tooth structure is necessary to create room for the installation of the veneer. You will be put in temporary veneers until your permanent veneers are custom made by our lab.

Veneer Installation

The temporary veneers are removed at this appointment and the permanent veneers are tried on and ensured that the fit is proper, and the patient likes the look. Then they are cemented by the dentist.
